Student Demonstration to Promote Equality Jan. 20th

PRESS RELEASEContact: Jane Reinkordt, Lincoln Southeast High School or Ruth Kupfer, Lincoln High SchoolThe collective Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender/Straight Alliances of the Lincoln public high schools have organized a protest demonstration to be held on January 20 in response to government lack of tolerance towards the gay/lesbian/bisexual/ transgender community. GLBTSA members, other students, and community allies will meet at Lincoln High School at 3:15 followed by a march to the Nebraska State Capitol Building where he demonstration will take place around 4 p.m..
Student organizers have entitled this event "Full Equality, Nothing Less: Peace, Love, and Pride-Protest for Your Rights." We hope that the event will raise awareness, create tolerance, and show the state of Nebraska the amount of support the glbt community has.
This event is sponsored by the Lincoln public high schools' Gay/Straight Alliances, Gay/Lesbian/Straight Education Network (GLSEN), Cornhusker PFLAG, Rainbow Celebrations, Nebraska GLBT Events.com, Nebraska PinkPages, Prairie Sky Journal, the Social Action Committee of the Unitarian Church, and the GLBT Welcoming Congregation of the Unitarian Church.
